The Institute of Applied Health Sciences (IAHS) is a historic and highly recognized pioneer private medical institution in Bangladesh, founded on May 13, 1989, by the legendary National Professor Dr. Nurul Islam. Established with the vision of providing standard medical training, innovative medical research, and compassionate clinical services at an equitable cost, IAHS stands out as one of the oldest and most trusted medical academic centers in the country.
Superbly situated in the tranquil, picturesque urban setting of Foy's Lake, Khulshi in the major port city of Chattogram (Chittagong), the institute provides a beautiful and globally responsive environment for medical studies. Affiliated with the premier Chittagong Medical University (CMU), IAHS offers a meticulously designed 5-year English-medium Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree framework, supplemented by a mandatory 1-year clinical rotation internship. Practical learning is conducted within the institution's own large teaching healthcare complex, the Bangabandhu Memorial Hospital (BBMH), giving students rich, well-rounded case management experience from an early stage.
Fully authorized by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of Bangladesh, the MBBS degree awarded by IAHS is recognized across the world by the Bangladesh Medical & Dental Council (BM&DC), the World Health Organization (WHO), listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools (WDOMS), and acknowledged by the National Medical Commission (NMC) of India.
