Kumudini Women's Medical College (KWMC) is a premier
private medical institution in Bangladesh exclusively dedicated to female medical
education. Established in 2001 by the renowned Kumudini Welfare Trust of Bengal
(KWT)—founded by the legendary philanthropist Rai Bahadur Ranada Prasad Shaha—the
college carries a deep-rooted historical mission of providing top-tier scientific
training alongside serving underprivileged humanity.
Superbly situated inside the massive, beautifully green 110-acre eco-friendly
Kumudini Complex at Mirzapur, Tangail (roughly 70 km northwest of Dhaka), the
institution offers an exceptionally safe and fully enclosed residential environment.
KWMC offers a structured 5-year English-medium Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery
(MBBS) degree framework followed by a mandatory 1-year clinical internship. Practical
bedside rotations take place within the legendary attached Kumudini Hospital—a massive
850 to 1,050-bed multi-specialty tertiary care teaching hospital that sees high regional
case loads daily, ensuring comprehensive clinical training.
Affiliated with the historic University of Dhaka, KWMC is fully approved by the
Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of Bangladesh. The MBBS degree holds premier
global accreditations from the Bangladesh Medical & Dental Council (BM&DC), the World
Health Organization (WHO), the World Directory of Medical Schools (WDOMS), and the
National Medical Commission (NMC) of India.
